You don’t have to face this alone.

Harbor & Home provides compassionate end-of-life doula support, advance care planning, and family guidance for individuals, caregivers, and organizations across Western Pennsylvania.

Finding My Way to the Threshold

It started with a novel. I was reading when I came across a scene that stopped me completely — Scotland Yard is about to notify a family that a body found near the Thames is likely their missing son. The mother, understanding the weight of what was coming, calls a trusted friend who was an end of life doula — not just for company, but to be a steady, knowing presence as she and her husband walked into the unimaginable together. Someone who could hold the room when they could not.

I set the book down and looked up "end of life doula." I had never heard the term. Within minutes, something shifted in me. The connection between this work and everything I had spent my career doing, everything I had lived through personally, everything I had been quietly drawn toward — it all arrived at once.

How It Works — A Gentle, Clear Process

You don't need to have all the answers. Just reach out — we'll take it from there.

1. Discovery Call A free 30-minute call to talk through your situation, answer your questions, and see if we're the right fit. No pressure, no commitment.

2. Intake & Plan We build a picture of your needs, wishes, and family system — and create a clear plan for how we'll work together.

3. Ongoing Support We show up — consistently, compassionately, and completely present — for as long as you need us. That presence is emotional and relational: sitting with your loved one, holding vigil, coaching caregivers, and giving families room to breathe. It does not include hands-on physical care, which remains the role of your clinical team.

4. Bereavement Follow-Up Our care doesn't end at death. We follow up with families in the immediate aftermath and connect you with grief support resources.
